Atop beautiful Piz Nair, ready to hit the slopes |
For an avid skier, few destinations on earth offer better opportunities to hit the slopes while enjoying breathtaking views and five-star accommodations and service.
On my most recent trip to St. Moritz, I flew direct to Zurich via Swiss Airlines and experienced fantastic service. Upon arrival, I took a train from Zurich Airport to Pontresina, where I stayed in a mountain view junior suite at the Grand Hotel Kronenhoff, a five-star hotel in Engadine. Highlights of the hotel included a massage in their fabulous spa, a delicious breakfast, on site ski and boot fittings, and transportation to nearby Corvatsch ski area.
Next, I transferred to the five-star Hotel Kulm in St. Moritz, renowned for its elegance and technology. With 173 rooms and suites, amazing views, and access to various nearby ski areas and hiking trails. A highlight here was the cable car ride, which took me up 10,700 feet to Piz Nair, where I enjoyed a delicious lunch and breathtaking views of the valleys below.

The absolute highlight of my entire trip was an evening hike to Corviglia for a delicious, traditional Swiss dinner at the KUHSTALL, which is actually a cow barn. We enjoyed an amazing meal, expertly paired with fine wine. After dinner, we rode down the mountain on sleds! It was so much fun!
Whether you prefer to spend the day being pampered at the spa or shopping 'til you drop, or enjoying the outdoors with an invigorating hike or thrilling sled ride, Switzerland is sure to have something that strikes your fancy! And while Switzerland is truly a skier's paradise, there is certainly no shortage of excellent activities, delicious food and drink, and breathtaking views for non-skiers to enjoy!
