The Oscars are over, and all of the winners, losers, makeup artists, reporters, popcorn sweepers, red carpet rollers, and pampered purse dogs have hopefully had a good night's sleep in one of the many posh L.A. hotels that welcome the rich and the famous this time of year. Here are our favorite places to stay when we need a little California sunshine. Richly decorated in turquoises and muted grays, Chamberlain West Hollywood is located just off of Sunset Boulevard among the best nightlife in Hollywood. Be sure to try their risotto fritters or the coconut creme brulee at the greenhouse-inspired Bistro for a late-night snack.
We like the Executive Suite, which features your own fireplace and a private balcony with great views out over the city.
Heading east a bit, we go to the Peninsula Beverly Hills. Designed to resemble a private residence, this hotel is an oasis nestled in the star-studded neighborhood of Beverly Hills. Although it's walking distance from just about every hotspot around, it's fun to book one of the Rolls-Royce Phantoms for an afternoon of cruising in style. Their rooftop pool area, with its fabulous restaurant, is great for people-watching.
Another one of our favorite Hollywood hotels is the Andaz West Hollywood. A serene retreat from the bustle of the streets, this hotel combines the best of what the destination has to offer. During the day, lounge at the pool, take in a spa treatment (we like the Rock n Roll massage) or practice yoga with an expert instructor. Then at night, hit the town with recommendations from their in-the-know concierge team.
