Richard’s Blog

by Richard Leibman,  Chairman.
Hello everyone! I’m glad to be back in full gear—after getting two new hips!—and I’m excited to use the new FROSCH blog to share a regular newsletter with you. From old favorites to grand openings and reopenings, I’ll use this platform to tell you about properties that I’ve visited recently, interesting new destinations, restaurants, museums, and other finds in the world of travel that you should know about. Keep an eye on this space for future updates!

  • I’m looking forward to visiting Coworth Park during my trip to England in the coming weeks. The newest addition to the Dorchester Collestion, this is a country home near the village of Ascot. The decor here reflects its bucolic setting, with an emphasis on the beauty of horses, the focus of this property. In fact, guests can even take dressage lessons here, in a region renowned for its equestrian heritage.
  • Speaking of England… if you’re in London for a day of shopping, be sure to stop in at Paul Smith’s new womenswear boutique next door to Claridge’s on Brook Street. This shop is the subject of much buzz among Mayfair shoppers, and the items for sale reflect the sophisticated elegance of Claridge’s itself.
  • Twin Farms is a charming inn in Barnard, Vermont, and my favorite place in the US.  Closely tied to the distinct New England seasons, Twin Farms’ activities range from cross-country skiing to summer stargazing and autumn foliage tours, with garden-fresh dining rounding out the days year-round. With only twenty suites and cottage accommodations, exemplary service enriches the property's intimate settings. I’ve been to Twin Farms three times and would go back in a heartbeat.
  • An interesting journey that I read about recently is the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (or “Toy Train” as it’s also known), a unique way to experience India’s colonial history. Even Mark Twain was a fan—he took a trip on the railway in 1896. The train climbs more than 2000 meters from Siliguri to Darjeeling over the course of its nine-hour journey, and features views of tea planations and Mount Everest!
  • A great place to eat if you’re on the island of Kauai is Bar Acuda—an elegant restaurant that serves small bites and satisfying meals. They have an extensive wine list and a menu that varies according to what’s freshest at the market—so that everything’s bursting with the flavors of Hawaii.
Thanks for reading. These things are near and dear to me (or I’m looking forward to seeing and doing them myself), so be sure to check in again next week for more updates.

Best,
Richard
