Saint Catherine's Monastery, White Canyon, & Bedouin Lunch

Saint Catherine’s Monastery, located on Mount Sinai, is one of the world’s oldest continuously working Christian monasteries and a favorite site of pilgrimage in the Christian faith. Named after Catherine of Alexandria, the monastery is located at the place where God appeared to Moses in the form of a burning bush. Records of monastic life at the site exist in the form of a travel journal written as far back as 341. The entire area is sacred to Christians, Jews, and Muslims, making Saint Catherine’s a very special place to visit.

You can get to Saint Catherine’s Monastery via either Cairo airport (plus six hours’ drive) or Sharm el-Sheikh (plus two hours’ drive). The UNESCO World Heritage Site is featured on this month’s Hot List as part of Seabourn’s Arabia, Egypt, & Holy Land cruise that calls at the port of Sharm el-Sheikh. As an amenity that we offer exclusively to FROSCH clients, we’re including a Private Car & Driver tour that takes you straight to this renowned destination without the hassle of waits or crowds. You’ll also have the chance to explore the mesmerizing geography of the Sinai Peninsula up close and personal with a stop at the White Canyon, a beautiful limestone and sandstone rock formation. On the way back to Sharm el-Sheikh and the Seabourn Pride, you’ll stop for an authentic open-air lunch at a Bedouin encampment at Ein Khudra oasis. This an incredible way to make many checks on your bucket list—all in one day!
