Today's Travel News



  • Heavy rain is causing flooding in the Netherlands and travel delays at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport.
  • Norwegian Cruise Line is planning a major overhaul to its shipboard kids' program, which will include "more focus on sporting activities, arts and crafts, theater and technology," as well as circus skills workshops put on by Cirque du Jour.
  • What's the best destination for a leisurely stroll? Frommers has put together a list of the most pedestrian-friendly cites around the world. Topping the list are Florence, Paris, and Dubrovnik, cities best experienced at about 3 miles per hour.
  • Humpback whales delighted tourists yesterday in Honolulu Harbor, stopping in for a rare close-up visit on their annual migration. It's a banner year for whale watchers as the marine mammals have been appearing early, in  record numbers, and in unusual locations as well.
