The Farm at Cape Kidnappers

The Farm at Cape Kidnappers is an award-winning lodge, the sister property to Matakauri Lodge and Kauri Cliffs, located near Napier amidst sprawling farmlands.

The celebrated golf course here offers an enjoyable challenge to golfers of all skill levels, and is currently ranked the 41st best golf course in the world. One word to the wise: it would pay to take a tour of the property and golf course before you tee off. This will help you not only get the lay of the land, but also prevent you from becoming too distracted by the views while you’re trying to concentrate on your putt!

Cape Kidnappers is also known for the 20,000-strong gannet colony that inhabits the cliffs near the ocean. These magnificent birds—members of the booby family—are unafraid of humans, which allows for great up-close encounters.

Enhancing the on-site recreation activities is the Cape Kidnappers Spa, with an array of luxurious treatments that employ local and natural ingredients, such as lavender that’s grown on-site. The Jade and Crystal Facial is a lovely choice for a bit of late afternoon pampering.

Dinner is a sophisticated affair at Cape Kidnappers, requiring a jacket for the gentlemen and semi-formal attire for the ladies. If you’re only staying at Cape Kidnappers for a few nights, it’s fun to try the tasting menu (with wine pairings) to get a sampling of their diverse dinner offerings.
